HOUSTON (WJW) The parents of a 4-month-old girl found dead inside a dresser drawer at a Houston-area motel last year have now been arrested and charged with murder, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office announced.

The child, Brookelynn Fancher, was found unresponsive on May 26, 2024, inside a room at a motel. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigators, the infant had been sleeping inside a dresser drawer, which served as her makeshift crib.

Her parents, identified as Jeremy Fancher, 37, and Destiny Campos, 21, had reportedly been living at the location for more than a year.

Following a homicide investigation by HCSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene units, murder charges were filed against both parents, according to the sheriff’s office.

Campos was taken into custody and booked into the Harris County Jail on Saturday night. Fancher was arrested Sunday.

“This case is horrific,” Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in a statement. “I’m proud of our relentless investigators and all the agencies that helped us get closer to justice for baby Brookelynn.”
