A Marion County woman is accused of shooting at a deputy while cuffed, leading to charges of attempted murder and possessing a firearm as a felon.

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — A Marion County woman is accused of retrieving a firearm and shooting at a deputy who was driving her to jail after she was arrested Monday. She was wearing handcuffs at the time.

Rheanna Harden, 22, is charged with attempted second-degree murder of a law enforcement officer and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office says Harden was arrested during a traffic stop for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, providing a false ID to law enforcement, and knowingly driving with a suspended license. She was handcuffed, searched, and placed in the back of Deputy A. Guillard’s squad car.

While traveling northbound on South Highway 441 near the 2900 block, Harden retrieved a gun she had hidden in her pants and began shooting at Guillard, according to MCSO.

The patrol vehicle crashed into a utility pole. Guillard got out of the car, returned fire, and took cover.

He sustained a graze wound to his right eye, and Harden was injured in the shoulder and hip. Both were taken to the hospital and later released.

Harden is being held at the Marion County Jail without bond.
