On the list of people who should just keep their mouths closed about the recent happenings in Iran, John Kerry has to rank near the top. One of the most disastrous minds in American political history, the former Secretary of State has left a trail of death, destruction, and failure in his wake. Yet, if Democrats, especially those from the Obama administration, have anything, it’s a completely unearned level of hubris.

On that front, Kerry showed up on CNN with the network’s chief terror apologist, Christiane Amanpour, to rant and rave about President Donald Trump’s decision to take out Iran’s nuclear capabilities. Let’s just say his foreign policy prowess hasn’t improved, and the internet is rewarding him by making this clip go viral.

Here’s the thing, John. You can bomb away the memory of how to make a bomb. It’s not like buying a cake mix and whipping things up in 20 minutes. The expertise and knowledge base needed is immense, and given that Israel not only wiped out Iran’s cabal of nuclear scientists but also its nuclear archives, there’s every reason to believe the program has been set back for a significant period of time. The Mullahs can’t just go down to the local job fair and pick up some new nuclear weapons experts and then Google “how to make a nuclear bomb.”

That doesn’t mean Iran can’t attempt to regroup. I’m sure they will, but how is making them rebuild decades worth of physical and mental infrastructure not a better outcome than continuing the status quo? Not only did this engagement dramatically increase the nuclear breakout period, but it also imploded the facade of Iranian dominance in the Middle East. Quite literally, everything is better now than before Israel started its campaign and the United States finished off the nuclear facilities.

But does Kerry’s other point have merit? Will this 12-day bombing campaign shift more power to the IRGC, leading to even worse outcomes for everybody involved? Frankly, I think that suggestion is laughable. For one, the IRGC is the enforcement arm of the Ayatollah. There is no real daylight between them. But what Kerry is trying to do is the same idiotic thing he did throughout the Obama administration. Namely, suggesting that the political faction in Iran is “moderate” and reasonable, and that if you don’t appease them, the hardliners will lash out.

On no planet do the hardliners not already control every aspect of Iranian decision-making and policy, though. Kerry is simply repeating 2010 talking points because that’s all he has. He can’t admit that his appeasement strategy failed miserably and that Trump’s peace through strength strategy worked. It’s embarrassing to watch him flail to the glowing nods of someone like Amanpour when that reality is so stark.
