JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is recovering after being shot while fleeing from a reported block party on the city’s Eastside Sunday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Police said around 11:30 p.m., officers were notified that a shooting victim had walked into a local hospital with injuries.
The victim, a man in his 40s, told police he was at a large block party on A. Philip Randolph Boulevard when the shooting began. He said he was shot in the legs while fleeing the scene.
Officers responded to the 800 block of A. Philip Randolph Boulevard and found blood and gun casings, police said. However, no other witnesses reported knowing about a shooting and police received no other 911 calls regarding the incident.
JSO Crime Scene detectives processed the scene and detectives canvassed the area, though no other victims or witnesses have been located.
