Farmer Wants a Wife 2025 has only just come to a close.

And producers have already sent out a casting call for next year’s series.

But in a surprising move the creators of the dating show have announced that New Zealand farmers are eligible for the Australian dating competition.

A call for entries was shared to NZ Farmers Facebook platform alongside an announcement that FWAW producers want to ‘cast a wider net’ for eligible bachelors.

‘Single Farmers,’ the ad reads. ‘It’s your turn to fall in love!’

It also suggested interested parties should ‘dob in a great farmer’ to the shows producers.

‘Been having a yarn with our mates across the ditch that make Farmer Wants a Wife, and they want to cast their nets wider to find the most eligible bachelor’s here in New Zealand,’ the NZ Farmer caption read.

It continued, ‘Head to the website to find out more or to dob in a hard working friend that needs a nudge in the right direction.’

However, reaction from the post has not been universally supported.

‘Farmer Wants A Wife is all about “Aussie farmers”, let’s keep it right here,’ complained a Facebook user on the thread.

They added, ‘I say no to New Zealanders; they can start one of their own over there. Gosh, leave something for just us Aussies FFS.’

Another viewer said, ‘Judging by this season’s pick of the crop, I think scouting from another country is what’s needed.’

Still, the NZ Facebook responders with humour at the suggestion with many of the more than 500 users linking friends to the post.

‘I’d like a NZ farmer,’ said one enthusiast of the dating show.

Meanwhile, one user appeared to not like the idea of appearing on the show.

‘Publicised desperation,’ they said, adding, ‘Does it come with a pre-nup?’

It comes after the dramatic reunion episode of Farmer Wants A Wife on Monday exposed the fate of Farmer Jarrad’s romance with Chloe.

Farmer Jarrad Wrigley, 22, was tipped to find a fairytale ending on the show when he fell for 25-year-old registered nurse Chloe Harvey.

But while Chloe did show up for the reunion, the pair admitted that their relationship had not worked out.

Jarrad revealed that ‘unfortunately’ they were no longer together – and it was Chloe who pulled the plug.

‘That was me. I see Jarrad as a really good mate and support him in what he does’ she said.

‘But I think until you’re living it, you don’t know. Our lives are on different paths.’
