When the draft day arrived, the Nets had a wealth of picks at their disposal. Despite rumors suggesting they may trade up, they ultimately decided to choose BYU guard Egor Demin as the eighth overall pick.
There were rumors circulating that the Nets might leverage their draft selections to secure a chance at acquiring Rutgers standout Ace Bailey. However, this scenario did not come to fruition.

Demin was predicted to be chosen in the first round of the draft, although it was anticipated that he would be selected later. Initial projections had placed him as the 19th overall pick, destined for the Brooklyn team.

He averaged 10.6 points per game and 5.5 assists while shooting 41.2 percent from the field.
