DDG has been granted permission to visit his 11-month-old son, Halo, in Italy, following a judge’s ruling in the rapper’s ongoing custody battle with ex-girlfriend Halle Bailey.

The decision follows a series of court proceedings that began in May, when Bailey was awarded temporary sole custody of Halo along with a restraining order against DDG, whose legal name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.

The Little Mermaid star alleged that DDG physically assaulted her during a custody exchange in January, resulting in a chipped tooth and visible bruising. DDG has denied the claims and filed a countersuit requesting emergency custody, while raising concerns about Bailey’s mental health.

Currently filming a project in Rome, Bailey was previously granted court approval to bring Halo overseas with her, despite opposition from DDG. Earlier this month, the rapper was denied his request for sole custody, as the court chose to maintain Bailey’s temporary custody arrangement.

More recently, DDG filed to gain court approval to visit Halo in Italy. In the filing, he proposed that his mother, Tonya-Yvette Granberry supervise the visit. Bailey’s legal team opposed that option, pointing to past concerns about her alleged involvement in enabling DDG’s behavior. Instead, they requested a neutral, professional monitor.

The judge agreed that DDG’s request to see his son was “reasonable,” but ruled that any visit must be supervised by a qualified third-party monitor, not a family member. The court also implemented a social media ban, preventing DDG from posting any content involving Halo during the trip.

Bailey, in a statement included in court documents, explained her need to be in Italy due to a contractual obligation to film a movie from June 7 to August 4, 2025. “Darryl has known about this work obligation for months. This is my source of income, on which Halo and I rely to pay all bills.”

She also said DDG failed to consistently take part in parenting responsibilities since Halo’s birth and that his legal team ignored her efforts to arrange supervised visits for over a month before he filed his own motion.

Additionally, Bailey’s legal team argued that DDG’s own travel plans in the coming months made him unfit for full custody and raised concerns about Halo being present during alleged past incidents of abuse.

Both legal teams are now working to identify a suitable monitor in Rome. A follow-up court hearing is scheduled for June 26.
