Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding invitations are the talk of the town — and for all the wrong reasons. Here’s why people can’t stop discussing the amateurish invites.
Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez have arrived in Venice for a star-studded, multi-day wedding celebration. After touching down via yacht and helicopter, the couple will host a welcome evening at a historic cloister on June 26. An elegant black-tie ceremony on the 27th at San Giorgio Maggiore follows. The festivities will wrap up on the 28th with a lavish reception at the iconic Venetian Arsenal — relocated at the last minute due to security concerns amid protests. Among the anticipated 200 guests are high-profile figures such as Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Kim Kardashian. And Matteo Bocelli will perform during a glamorous finale. And before the festivities begin, all eyes are on the couple’s lackluster wedding invitation. Here’s what the public is saying about the shameful invite.
Fans think Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez should’ve given more thought to their wedding invitations
Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez have just dropped their highly anticipated wedding invitations. The invites set the tone for the alleged stylish and socially conscious celebration in Venice this summer. The cards feature whimsical designs like butterflies, gondoliers, feathers, and shooting stars in electric-blue and highlighter-pink accents, all laid against a crisp white backdrop. The italic font accompanies other details, like the Rialto Bridge, that captured the attention of the media.
The standout detail isn’t just the aesthetics. The couple explicitly requested “no gifts.” Instead, they pledged donations in guests’ honor to three local Venetian charities. These include the UNESCO Venice Office, CORILA, and the Venice International University. Their gesture is being praised by officials as a thoughtful nod to cultural preservation. However, the wedding sparks protests over wealth and overtourism.
It’s unclear how much Bezos and Sánchez paid for their wedding invitations. Users on Reddit hope it’s not much, as they claim the invites look amateurish. Several users note that the images look straight from Microsoft Word’s widely available library.
“While I can totally believe the couple would cover their a**es like this, their publicist should be ashamed of such tacky design,” one user wrote.
“What is this clip-art monstrosity?” another user commented.
“This looks like the invites my mom would make for my childhood birthday parties in the ’90s, where it all rhymed … and to be honest, hers were much cuter,” yet another user commented.
Others couldn’t get past the couple donating money to Venice International University in the name of finding “sustainable solutions.”
“How many private jets did that article the other day say were expected to be arriving at this circus? Ninety-six, I think?” another user wrote. “You should be legally barred from uttering the word ‘sustainability’ while committing such crimes against Mother Earth ….”
