AIKEN, S.C. () – Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) welcomed 173 students for its 2025 Summer Internship Program.

According to SRNS, this year’s group of students varied from across 18 U.S. states and Canada, drawn from 53 colleges and technical institutions.

The interns began on June 10, with the 12-week program offering them an inside look to exploring various careers, including those in engineering, computer science, physical sciences, business services, communications, site services, information technology, and nuclear materials control.

“This internship is helping me find my path in fire services and understand the industrial side of firefighting,” said Reid Wooten, SRS Fire Department intern and senior at The Citadel. “I’ve already earned my national Hazardous Materials Technician certification, and I’m excited about the opportunity to do meaningful work and potentially return next summer.”

According to SRNS, plans are underway to hire approximately 2,000 employees over next five years to “meet the growing demands of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) missions.”

“The SRNS Internship Program remains a critical tool for building tomorrow’s workforce,” said Bryan Ortner, SRNS Senior Vice President, Workforce Services and Talent Management. “Students will apply innovative ideas to complex problems, expand existing university and college relationships, and establish new ones.”

SRNS began the Summer Internship Program in 2009. More information about it can be found here.
