Which Chicago Med Character Was The Biggest Villain During Season 10
Share and Follow

Now that the 10th season of Chicago Med is over, it is clear that it was a truly special chapter in the TV show’s history. There are many things that made the season special, including the shocking cliffhanger, the return of a character after five seasons, and a fascinating romantic storyline. The season was more fun than usual, it featured a perfect episode, great new characters were introduced, and one character had a wonderful chapter.

Another one of the things that made the season great was that it resulted in more intrigue than usual. After all, Chicago Med seasons typically don’t feature a main villain, let alone one that isn’t obvious until fans really think about it.

Why Lizzy Asher Was The Real Villain Of Chicago Med Season 10

During the 10th season of Chicago Med, the show featured a storyline that seemed to set up the biggest villain of the season. Unfortunately for the character, Sharon Goodwin was targeted by someone who turned out to be very dangerous.

After her girlfriend passed away because Sharon gave the blood she needed to another patient, a woman named Cassidy began stalking the hospital administrator. Ultimately, Cassidy held Sharon hostage and stabbed her, which caused a near-fatal injury.

While stabbing a beloved character clearly made Cassidy hated, the season featured another character who secretly was the season’s big villain. While looking back at Season 10 of Chicago Med, it is fascinating to consider what made Lizzy Asher the real villain.

While what Cassidy did to Sharon was undeniably horrible, she was a pretty straightforward danger who was taken to prison after her actions. Not only that, Cassidy quickly began feeling guilty about what she’d done and sought to make amends with Sharon. In real life, Cassidy would be the big villain for what she did. However, in Chicago Med’s storylines, it is Elizabeth “Lizzy” Asher who became the season’s biggest villain.

Almost from the moment she showed, Lizzy was a true danger to her sister, Dr. Hannah Asher.

After maintaining that distance, Dr. Asher tried to make contact with her sister to reconnect, but initially failed. Given that it is clear that Lizzy had been burned by Dr. Asher in the past, it would have been understandable if she continued to cut her out of her life. However, what Lizzy did instead clearly makes her a villain who didn’t seem to care at all about potentially destroying her sister’s rebuilt life.

First off, Lizzy showed up and asked Dr. Asher to commit medical fraud and put her career and life in serious danger. Desperate to become pregnant, Lizzy asked Dr. Asher to falsely diagnosis her with an ailment she didn’t have, so her insurance company would cover IVF treatments.

As anyone who has dealt with fertility issues will be able to attest, that struggle is absolutely heartbreaking. However, that doesn’t make it okay to ask your loved one to commit medical fraud. Worse yet, when Dr. Asher refused to commit medical fraud, Lizzy treated her sister like it was another example of her letting her down. That is brutal on more than one level.

First off, Lizzy appeared to be trying to guilt her sister into committing a crime, knowing how that could completely destroy the life she’d built. Secondly, Lizzy had to know that treating her sister like that could easily lead to a relapse.

Ultimately, Dr. Asher went to Lizzy with another plan: she would pay for the IVF treatments. Even though it seemed clear she was going to cut her sister out of her life again, Lizzy happily took Dr. Asher’s money.

While Dr. Asher was helping Lizzy, the sisters reconnected. Shown laughing, going on walks together, and socializing in general, the sisters became close. Then, Lizzy had a medical emergency and Dr. Asher wound up operating on her. Tragically, the operation went wrong and, despite working tirelessly to try to avoid it, Dr. Asher had no choice but to remove her sister’s uterus.

When Lizzy woke up after the surgery, she blamed Dr. Asher. Since she didn’t see how hard her sister tried to save her uterus and she was overcome with grief, it was an understandable, but still unfair, reaction. Still, Dr. Asher wasn’t done trying to help her sister become a mother. Instead, Dr. Asher agreed to become a surrogate mother and carry Lizzy’s baby despite any danger and emotional impact that would have on her.

That plan also went awry when Dr. Asher learned that she was already pregnant, much to her shock. When she heard the news, Lizzy once again walked out on Dr. Asher while claiming it was another example of her sister letting her down. Again, Lizzy should know the emotional impact that could have on her sister, who she knew was pregnant. Still, Lizzy seemed to be happy to walk out on Dr. Asher at that moment.

Throughout Season 10 of Chicago Med, Lizzy used Dr. Asher’s help when she could and walked away at a moment’s notice when her sister wasn’t useful anymore. That is what made Lizzy Chicago Med’s true villain during Season 10.

Lizzy Asher Could Still Be Redeemed During Chicago Med’s 11th Season

As of the time of this writing, fans still have many weeks left to wait until the 11th season of Chicago Med will premiere. As a result, fans can only theorize about what could happen during the show’s upcoming season. While considering what will happen next, it is easy to envision the possibility that Lizzy Asher will be redeemed during Chicago Med’s 11th season.

During the 10th season of Chicago Med, Lizzy was absolutely reckless with Dr. Asher’s well-being. However, if Lizzy turns over a new leaf during Season 11 and winds up being there for her sister during her pregnancy, that could cast her actions in a new light.

As this article previously touched on, going through fertility issues is an extremely painful process for people. As a result, it is fairly common for people in that situation to have emotions that they typically wouldn’t have. For example, people who are typically overjoyed to find out someone else is pregnant can find their reactions flipping in that situation. After all, when you are struggling to become pregnant and see that happen for someone else, seemingly with ease, that can be devastating.

If Lizzy turns things around and is there for Dr. Asher, her past reckless actions could look like they were inspired by those emotions. While that wouldn’t make Lizzy’s prior behavior okay, she also wouldn’t be a full-fledged villain. Alternatively, Lizzy could also become more of a villain during Season 11.

First off, Lizzy could just disappear from Dr. Asher’s life, which would seemingly prove that she was only using her sister when they reconnected. It is also possible that Lizzy could go so far as to try to convince Dr. Asher to give her the baby she is now carrying. In the world of Chicago Med, crazier things have happened.
