White House releases video featuring workers in ‘big, beautiful bill’ pressure campaign

The White House on Friday released a video with testimonials from workers about the benefits of President Trump’s “big, beautiful bill,” as it seeks to ramp up pressure on Republicans ahead of planned Senate votes this weekend.

In a video first shared with The Hill, eight people who attended Trump’s event at the White House on Thursday talked about the impact they think the bill will have on their lives.

The two-minute video included testimony from a rancher, fireman, Door Dash driver, pilot and border patrol agent, among others, hailing from states including Wisconsin, Missouri and Illinois.

The Abraham family, whose daughter Katie was killed in January in a hit-and-run crash, were featured in the video. The man accused of killing her and another student was a migrant from Guatemala and was caught on a bus in Texas leaving for Mexico.

“It’s great to see that he is strengthening the border, he is putting some rational processes in, versus what’s been going on the last four or five years, which is the wild west,” Katie’s father, Joe Abraham, said. “Katie would be with us here today if we had this type of strength of the border.”

Others touted the tax proposals in the legislation and other provisions.

“The reason I support the one ‘big, beautiful bill’ is because of the tax provisions,” said Kevin Kester, a California rancher.

“The one ‘big, beautiful bill’ provides funding to ensure a modernized, safe and efficient air traffic control system here in the United States of America,” said Capt. Miles Morgan, the managing director for flight training for United Airlines.

Earlier in the day, Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) told Senate Republicans to expect to see the legislative text of the budget reconciliation package Friday evening and then to vote at noon Saturday to begin debate on the bill.

Trump has called on Republicans to pass the legislation by July 4 and earlier this week threatened to yank next week’s recess if the legislation is not on his desk by the self-imposed deadline.

“The Great Republicans in the U.S. Senate are working all weekend to finish our ‘ONE, BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL,’” he said on Truth Social. “The House of Representatives must be ready to send it to my desk before July 4th — We can get it done.”

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent was on Capitol Hill on Friday to discuss a tentative deal between the White House and House Republicans from New York, New Jersey and California to raise the cap on state and local tax (SALT) deductions from $10,000 to $40,000 for a period of five years.

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) told reporters that he was in the Oval Office with Thune on Thursday evening to work through the bill with the president.
