Effingham Police Chief retiring after 25 years of service

EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WCIA) — Following 25 years of service, Effingham Police Chief Jason McFarland if officially retiring.

Chief McFarland started with Effingham as a Patrolman and later went to Investigations before becoming Chief. During his tenure, he helped solve many cases and managed countless crises through his leadership. The department also commended him for the countless lives he impacted through his mentorship and engagement with the community.

“Chief McFarland has spent nearly three decades leading with integrity, protecting our community, and supporting the officers who serve alongside him,” the department said in a Facebook post on Friday. “We thank Chief McFarland for his 25 years of selfless service and wish him all the best in this next chapter.”
