Jayson Tatum’s return to the court for the Boston Celtics is still a distant goal as the six-time NBA All-Star continues his recovery from a torn Achilles — a process that appears to be testing his patience.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, Tatum took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a raw and unfiltered update on his state of mind during rehab:

“Day 45… this is some bullsh*t,” Tatum posted, offering a rare glimpse into his struggles.

The Celtics forward has kept a low profile on social media throughout 2025, making this post stand out even more. While he didn’t elaborate, it’s evident that the emotional and physical toll of recovering from a major injury is weighing heavily on him.

Tatum suffered the Achilles tear during Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the New York Knicks. He underwent surgery the following day, and the Celtics were eliminated from the playoffs just two games later without their star player.

Since the injury, Boston has undergone significant roster changes. Jrue Holiday was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers earlier this week, followed by Kristaps Porzingis being moved to the Atlanta Hawks in a three-team deal. With Tatum expected to miss the entire 2025–26 season, the Celtics are facing an uncertain future.

While fans await Tatum’s eventual comeback, they continue to follow his journey through every rare update he provides online.

Jayson Tatum Gets Draft Night Recognition from Cooper Flagg

Despite his absence from the game, Tatum remains a prominent figure among rising stars. On the night of the 2025 NBA Draft, top pick Cooper Flagg gave Tatum a special mention during his interview with ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt.

When asked which NBA player made him feel like he had officially “made it,” Flagg replied:

“Maybe Jayson Tatum. That’s somebody that I watched a lot at Duke and then watched again as he went on to the Celtics. He’s had an incredible career so far.”

Both Flagg and Tatum share similar paths — standout freshman seasons at Duke followed by immediate transitions to the NBA. The comparison highlights Tatum’s impact on the next generation, even as he works behind the scenes to recover and return stronger.
