The long-awaited reunion for The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives finally dropped on Hulu today — and it is one-hour and 40 minutes of pure, unadulterated drama, even without its Season 2 villain in attendance.

When the reunion news was announced last month, fans were quick to notice that Demi Engemann — a catalyst for much of the conflict in the show’s sophomore season — was a no-show, sparking many questions. Was she not invited to the Nick Viall-moderated sit-down? Did she officially exit MomTok? Or was she too afraid to face her co-stars after the way they left things off in Season 2?

The answer to all of those questions is no. But fear not! Because we have you covered on everything you need to know about Engemann’s surprising absence. Keep reading to find out the real reason she wasn’t there.

Was Demi Engemann at The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives reunion?

The answer is yes and no. While Engemann was not technically at The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives reunion, she still found a way to make a splash. Instead of confronting her co-stars face-to-face in real time, Engemann did a one-on-one “deep dive” into Season 2 with Viall, seemingly after she filmed her May appearance on The Viall Files podcast with her husband. The pre-recorded sit-down gave the Season 2 villain a chance to speak her piece in front of her co-stars, who got to watch (and respond to) the footage when it aired in front of them for the first time at the reunion.

Engemann also popped into the episode via FaceTime call with Whitney Leavitt, where she appeared to coach her newfound bestie on what to say in the inevitable event that she’s asked about the drama surrounding Engemann.

Why wasn’t Demi Engemann at The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives reunion?

Engemann was unable to attend The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives reunion because she had a pre-planned trip to Disneyland with her family, she revealed on her Instagram Story.

“It was short notice and the only day they could get the location secured was the day that me and my entire family did Disneyland. We had already booked all of our flights and the Airbnb was nonrefundable or I would’ve moved the trip to be there,” she explained, per Today. “I tried to have production move it to another day and they couldn’t swing it sadly.”
