A 28-year-old mother in Ohio will spend several decades behind bars after she “bragged” and “Snapchatted” about handcuffing her 6-year-old son’s hands and feet before a large pit bull “used him as a chew toy,” nearly killing the boy.

Ashland County Common Pleas Court Judge Dave Stimpert on Monday ordered Angelina Williams to serve the maximum sentence of up to 28 1/2 years in a state correctional facility for permitting the horrific mauling of her child.

Williams previously pleaded guilty to multiple counts of kidnapping and endangering children.

Two of Williams’ co-defendants have also been convicted of crimes in connection to the incident. Last week, Robert Michalski Jr. — who owned the dog as well as the home where the attack took place — was found guilty on multiple criminal charges, including two counts of complicity to commit endangering children and one count of tampering with evidence.

Taylor Marvin-Brown, described by prosecutors as Williams’ “paramour,” in April pleaded guilty to one count of obstructing justice and three counts of complicity in commission of a felony for kidnapping and endangering children.

Both co-defendants are scheduled to be sentenced later this month.

Monday’s sentencing hearing began with Williams’ defense attorney, Jennifer Harmon, explaining to the court that she had seen a “marked difference” in her client’s demeanor and that Williams had come to grips with the severity of her actions and accepted responsibility.

Williams read a prepared statement — becoming emotional at times — as she explained that she understood that her children would “probably haunt them for the rest of their lives,” which she said she would “never” forgive herself for.

Despite Williams agreeing to plead guilty to multiple felonies, prosecutors remained steadfast that the inhumane malevolence of her crimes still called for her sentences to be served consecutively.

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Matthew Metcalf emphasized that the victim and his 8-year-old sister were only with their mom — who does not have legal custody over them — for a two-week stay when the horrific incident took place.

He said that when the children did not want to pick up “dog feces in the yard,” they would be “handcuffed and tied to chairs.”

“Handcuffed at their ankles; handcuffed at their wrists,” he said. “It’s unfathomable as far as egregiousness. I think it’s probably the worst form of the offense you could have.”

Speaking of the abuse, Metcalf said that Williams was the “most involved” of the three defendants, saying that she even “Snapchatted pictures of the children tied up.”

“To me, that’s the worst,” the prosecutor said. “That’s an understanding of ‘not only am I doing this, but I’m kind of proud of it.'”

Stimpert was unwavering in siding with prosecutors, taking the opportunity to lambaste Williams for the harm she caused her own children.

“Damian was handcuffed and the pit bull used him as a chew toy and the adults made up a story to cover their butts,” the judge said. “Except using him as a chew toy is putting it very lightly. That dog tried to rip out his throat. To see the pictures of the bruising around his eyes and face from the force, the  pressure that that dog put on his throat — to see the wounds on his neck? I’m not sure there are words that adequately describe that.”

He continued, telling Williams that as the mother of the victim it was her duty to protect him and his sister, not repeatedly physically and mentally abuse them.

“I don’t know any mother that would think handcuffing a child’s hands and feet is a good idea, period,” he said. “Yet not only did it, you do it multiple times, you shared photos of it — essentially bragging about it.”

Stimpert said that for the first time in his decades-long career, he watched as “seasoned law enforcement officers struggled to get through their testimony because they were so choked up.”

As Law&Crime previously reported, the charges against the trio stem from “a disturbing pattern of abuse” that reached an apex on Aug. 17, 2024, at Michalski’s home in Savannah, Ohio.

“Two children — a young boy and his sister — were being periodically restrained using handcuffs and other devices in Michalski’s home,” prosecutors previously wrote in a press release. “On August 17, 2024, while the boy was restrained, he was attacked by a dog, resulting in serious physical injuries.”

The boy and his sister, who was also a victim of abuse, have recovered and are in the care of a legal custodian who provides “appropriate support and protection,” prosecutors said.

Authorities on that date responded to Michalski’s home after receiving reports of a child being bitten by a pit bull on the neck and ear. Emergency medical personnel examined the child and determined his injuries were serious enough to require an airlift to the hospital.

Williams and Marvin-Brown were at the home when deputies arrived, while Michalski appeared to have fled the scene with the attacking dog. However, he was later located hiding with the dog in an upstairs crawl space with the animal, which was later deemed “vicious” and confiscated.

Following an investigation, authorities said Michalski, Williams, and Marvin-Brown restrained the boy with handcuffs on his hands and feet and sicced the dog on him. Prosecutors said the trio administered “corporal punishment” in a cruel way for “a prolonged period” that created a “substantial risk” of physical harm to the boy and his sister.

Michalski will be sentenced on July 21, while Marvin-Brown will learn his fate on July 14, court records show.
