ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – Alachua County Sheriff’s Office and Gainesville Police Department have formed a county-wide Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

The Task Force’s mission is to keep kids safe online and build stronger defenses against online exploitation, cyberbullying, and digital abuse with joint investigations and public awareness programs.

Sheriff Chad Scott announced that he had bonded four Gainesville Police Department Detectives as Deputy Sheriffs with his office to formally launch the Task Force. ASO wrote: “By joining forces, we’re sending a clear message: 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨 𝐣𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐯𝐮𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲.”
