The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says multiple people were detained when officers responded to the scene.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Multiple people were detained Wednesday after a man was found dead with multiple blunt-force injuries at Cross Creek Apartments on Jacksonville’s Westside, according to investigators with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO Sgt. Dishman said at approximately 3:30 a.m., patrol officers were sent to the apartment complex located on Manotak Avenue after receiving calls about a “dispute.”

When they arrived, Dishman said the man, estimated to be in his 40s, was found dead in a breezeway/hallway.

Detectives from JSO’s crime scene and homicide units then responded to the scene, according to Dishman.

“There are multiple people currently detained and detectives are speaking to them about what occurred,” Dishman said.

Dishman further told First Coast News that JSO does not yet know the circumstances that led up to man’s death or relationships of those involved.

“We know they were involved in the dispute, but the relationships have not been confirmed. We’re unaware if they were just a part of the dispute or if they’re related to each other,” Dishman added.

Anyone with information on the man’s death is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
