A popular comedian has stunned fans with her youthful appearance in a slew of throwback snaps shared on her birthday this week.

She’s beloved for her unfiltered and quick-witted routines and is frequent panelist on a number of well known British comedy panel shows.

And after she recently revealed that she is currently pregnant with her fourth child, her eldest daughter took to Instagram to share a number of photos of them together to mark her mother’s birthday.

The photos taken in her late twenties, showed the funnywoman looking much more fresh-faced from her usual glamorous self that fans are used to seeing her with on TV and stage.

Captured moments included in the shots saw her sweetly cuddling and reading stories to her baby daughter, with her followers gushing over her youthful beauty and causing the TV star to quip that she would be sending them to a plastic surgeon.

Captured moments included in the shots saw her sweetly cuddling and reading stories to her baby daughter, with her followers gushing over her youthful beauty and causing the TV star to quip that she would be sending them to a plastic surgeon. But can you guess who it is?

That’s right, it’s Katherine Ryan! 

The Canadian star celebrated turning 42 on Monday, with her daughter Violet, 16, leading the birthday tributes.

In the caption of the gallery of photos of her and Katherine from her childhood, the teenager wrote: ‘Happy birthday to the woman who taught and raised me to be a baddie (with no help)’. 

In a sweet response, Katherine – who welcomed Violet at just 25 years old – replied: ‘I truly killed this assignment and you are the proof ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️’.

Fellow comedian and writer Sharon Horgan – known for creating the likes of Motherland, Bad Sisters and Catastrophe – was one of the first to comment on the star’s youth, writing: ‘You were just a baby xx’.

And displaying her clever wit, Katherine quipped back: ‘@sharonhorgan these pics are going STRAIGHT to a surgeon’.

The star has been open about having gotten breast implants in 2004 as well as Botox and fillers, regularly poking fun in her comedy about amount of plastic surgery other people claim she’s had.

Last year, she hit back at accusations that she’d ‘had too much filler’, as she reflected on how quick assumptions are made about celebrities’ looks.

Appearing on Amanda Wakeley’s Style DNA podcast in October, she explained how during her second pregnancy she’d had to take steroids, which ‘makes you gain weight in a strange way’.

Katherine went on: ‘It was so weird and I looked so different. I had the audacity to continue to go out in public and film and to do stand up.

‘Loads of people on social media were like “Oh, she’s done too much filler” or “sh’s really ruined her face” – kind of the way people speak about, I mean I don’t think I’m out of turn saying Simon Cowell sometimes.’

‘Or even David Beckham now, or Zac Efron. People are starting to talk about men and filler, and I think who knows who’s done what?

‘Sometimes you just gain weight or you age and it looks like it. They’ll take a photo of you from twenty years ago and go “Oh, look what she’s done” – I’ll tell you what I’ve done is I’ve lived a hard life for the last twenty years and raised three children, I look different.

‘But I wasn’t doing anything at that time and obviously Nina [her cosmetic surgeon] is such a professional, I couldn’t do anything when I was pregnant or breastfeeding.’

Reflecting on the work she has done now, the comedian admitted that she still has some Botox but wouldn’t be able to ‘hold filler up’ now. 

She explained: ‘And now on the other side of 40 with my anatomy, if I had a strong Kylie Jenner jawline it might be different but I don’t, and I think fillers, I don’t think I can hold them up – for my anatomy.

‘So now I’m really interested in a little bit of Botox here and there, not too much with babies, because babies need you to move your face.’

Amanda jumped in with: ‘But also, doesn’t your audience need you to move your face?’

‘No, they like the Botox I think,’ joked Katherine, ‘I’m robbing them of an experience cause now I can’t really do the jokes about Botox’. 

It comes days after Katherine revealed she is pregnant with her fourth child, and third with her childhood sweetheart Bobby. 

The couple are already parents to son Fred, three, and two-year-old daughter Fenna, two, with Katherine welcoming Violet in a previous relationship.

She has been open about her fertility struggles in recent years, revealing in 2024 that she had had three miscarriages in five years.

Speaking in November, Katherine admitted she would love to have more kids – but was worried about her age. 

‘I’m old. I used to think I was going to be the babies’ dad because I’m working but actually I’m like their grandmother,’ she quipped at the time. ‘My back hurts, sometimes I give them treats. I’m like a fun grandma.’

The couple are already parents to son Fred, three, and two-year-old daughter Fenna, two, with Katherine welcoming Violet in a previous relationship 

The comedian also revealed in March 2025 that she was battling melanoma for the second time.

She made the revelation in her podcast, Telling Everybody Everything, explaining she paid to have a mole removed from her arm and learned it was cancerous.

She added that she required more surgery to ensure the entire mass had been removed.

The star is gearing up for another busy period of work, embarking on her Battleaxe comedy tour this month.

She also hosts multiple podcasts, including her most recent What’s My Age Again? – a ‘refreshing and humorous take on ageing, wellness, and self-discovery.’

The TV star revealed in 2022 that she had kept her second pregnancy a secret because she was scared it would lead to her losing work.

She was eight months pregnant when she presented ITV’s Ready To Mingle, a fact that she hid from everyone. 

Katherine and her husband Bobby have been together since 2018, but have known each other since they were children as they grew up together in Canada.

Childhood sweethearts, the two parted ways initially before rekindling their romance this side of the Atlantic.

The couple revealed in the latest series of the family’s reality show that they ‘wanted the option of having a fourth [child].’
