TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. () — Tybee Island Police Department (TIPD) shared safety recommendations in a Facebook post in preparation for the Fourth of July.

TIPD said historically, the holiday is one of Tybee Island’s busiest events of the year. Visitors should expect heavy traffic and delays, exercising caution while on the roads.

With the expectation of large crowds, TIPD recommends keeping your group together. If your group includes children, take pictures of children in the outfit they wear to the event. This will help first responders reunite them if they become separated.

If consuming alcohol, plan to have a safe ride home. With warm weather, be sure to drink plenty of water to remain hydrated.

As a family-friendly event, all local and state laws will apply. In case of an emergency, updates can be found on TIPD’s social media.
