Mahershala Ali’s eight-year-old daughter, Bari, has finally reached the age where she is old enough to see her father’s work onscreen.

During the premiere for Jurassic World Rebirth, the 51-year-old father spoke with Entertainment Tonight about Bari’s reaction to his latest action film. He also shared with the outlet that this was her first time seeing one of his projects from beginning to end.

“I need to ask her what she was most blown away by, but I think she loved the movie,” he told the ET. “I think she loved getting to see me in something because she’s seen me working in little pieces and parts. She’s seen scenes of things, but there’s nothing I’ve ever been able to really share with her from beginning to end.”

Ali also got to watch the film with both Bari and his wife, Amatus Sami-Karim.

“It was nice just having that experience together and getting to sit there in a movie theater and watch her react to something that I was in and her actually really just enjoying the movie because she likes the Jurassic [World] franchise,” he said, adding that he was “prepping her for this moment and getting to see the other movies.”

Ali and Sami-Karim welcomed their daughter to the world in February 2017.

In early March 2017, Ali opened up to People Magazine in an exclusive interview about fatherhood, saying that it was a “different kind of crazy.” 

“She was smiling last night,” he said at the time. “It’s just been great to know this little person whose body seems to change every day and whose awareness heightens every day. It’s just been exciting.”

Jurassic World Rebirth hit theaters on July 2.
