TLC’s 1000-lb Sisters chronicles Amy and Tammy Slaton’s emotional and physical journey to lose weight. When they began, Amy weighed 406 pounds and Tammy weighed 608 pounds, putting their combined starting weight at over half a ton.

As the seasons progressed, both sisters made significant progress in their weight-loss journeys and were eventually approved for gastric bypass surgery. Viewers also got to know the entire Slaton family — Chris Combs, Amanda Halterman, and Misty Slaton — as the show explored not only individual transformations but also the complex dynamics within the Slaton family.

Now that Season 7 is over, fans have wondered what lies ahead for Tammy and Amy as they’ve reached major milestones in their weight loss and are no longer 1000-lb sisters.

What Can We Expect On 1000-lb Sisters Season 8 Now That Amy And Tammy Slaton Have Lost So Much Weight?

Fans Can Expect A Healing Journey For The Slaton Sisters

The end of Season 7 gave fans a special episode in which the Slaton family take a trip down memory lane. As they all gather in the van together, they head to Amy and Tammy Slaton’s old place, which has since been demolished. Tammy looks back at the times she couldn’t even make it to the mailbox because of her weight.

The family also makes a pit stop at the junkyard where Amy and Tammy would weigh themselves because no regular scale could determine their weight. As they took turns, Amy weighed in at 249, which means she lost over 150 since fans first met her. As for Tammy, she’s made significant progress. She confidently walks on the scale and weighs in at 215 pounds, having shed nearly 400 pounds.

As the entire family decides to weigh themselves together, they are over 1000 pounds. As Tammy shares, “We’re not the 1000-lb Sisters anymore. We’re the 1000-lb family.” Knowing that both Amy and Tammy have made so much progress on their weight, fans have wondered what that means for the show.

According to a ScreenRant article, there are five key reasons why 1000-lb Sisters may not return for Season 8. Among them: Amy and Tammy’s weight-loss journeys are largely complete, and the sisters are now in a better place, which means fans will see less drama.

But there’s more to the Slaton sisters than just their transformations. The show has expanded to include their family, new relationships, and of course, the hilarious banter between Amy and Tammy that fans can’t get enough of. While TLC hasn’t made any official announcement about renewing the show, it’s hard to believe they’d walk away from the Slatons just yet. There is still so much more of their story left to tell.

  • Amy’s new relationship with Brian Lovvorn has sparked fresh interest, especially as the couple discusses where they’ll tie the knot, and whether her family will attend, a major point of tension within the Slaton clan.
  • There’s also curiosity around Tammy’s new love interest, Andrea, and whether the two are still together.
  • Tammy is also in the midst of healing from her recent skin removal surgery, though she still has additional procedures ahead to address other areas of her body.

All of these scenarios can still make a great new season that fans would truly enjoy watching.

Tammy reached a major milestone in her weight-loss journey during Season 7. At the start of the season, she revealed she had lost an incredible 500 pounds and was anxiously awaiting approval for skin removal surgery.

Speaking to People, Tammy shared, “After six years and losing over 500 pounds, I was finally approved for surgery. I was just overwhelmed with excitement. I worked really hard for this, and now it’s here. I’m pretty sure it was noticeable on my face how immediately shocked and then overwhelmed with joy I was.”

Doctors advised Tammy that they would work on removing excess skin from her neck, chin, arms, and stomach first to not cause too much stress on her body. After her procedure was a success, doctors removed “over 15 lbs” of skin. Tammy’s surgery was transformative, and she no longer had “bat wings” or a “turkey gobbler.”

“It feels so weird. I don’t have my hanging balls**k on my face. My bat wings are gone, too. And now, there’s nothing there but my lap now. It’s gonna take a little while for me to get used to seeing myself like this.”

Tammy’s healing journey and stunning transformation deserve to be a part of a new season. Watching her embrace her new body and newfound confidence would not only be inspiring but also offer fans a deeper look at life after reaching such a massive weight loss milestone. Tammy’s next chapter in life would be incredibly interesting to watch.

As mentioned, Tammy is not yet done with her surgery. She did not have skin removed from her legs and that’s another journey fans could watch. It would be a complete transformation.

Meanwhile, fans are also hoping Season 8 will capture Amy’s upcoming wedding to Brian. While her family has expressed concerns for how quickly she moved on with her new relationship, tensions reached a boiling point when Amy wanted to get married in an abandoned insane asylum on Halloween.

“My vision for the dress is white with black lines, a corset with a princess poof,” she says. “Brian wants me to have pink hair for the wedding, and I want to have a Victorian style updo,” she told People after her engagement.

The new season could follow Amy and Brian’s married life as he also get adjusted to living with her two sons, Gage and Glen, who she welcomed with her ex-husband, Michael Halterman.

Of course, fans also love the unfiltered banter between Amy, Tammy, and their siblings. There’s truly no family quite like the Slatons, which makes them such entertaining and unforgettable television.
