Liam Gallagher apologizes for using racial slur before Oasis reunion

Liam Gallagher is on an apology tour.

The Oasis frontman, 52, came under fire for reportedly posting a racial slur about people of East Asian descent on X (formerly Twitter) on July 1.

After Liam shared the since-deleted offensive message, he initially doubled down as fans called him out.

When one person tweeted that Liam was “gonna get cancelled,” he responded: “Whatever.”

Someone else pointed out to Liam that he couldn’t make that statement, to which Liam questioned why. Another user chimed in, mentioning that it was considered racist. In response, Liam simply said, “Behave.”

“Are you kidding me youre gonna offend your own fans liam dont start,” said another fan, as Liam replied, “Chill out Birdy.”

Liam eventually shared an apology on his X account.

After receiving feedback, Liam wrote a message expressing regret if anyone had been offended by his previous tweet unintentionally, emphasizing his love for everyone and his stance against discrimination. He signed off with, “peace and love LG x.”

Following his public apology, Liam and his older brother Noel Gallagher, aged 58, launched their Oasis Live ’25 Tour in Cardiff, Wales, on July 4th.

The show marked the once-estranged brothers’ first performance together in 16 years.

“It’s good to be back,” Liam sang to the crowd as he and Noel walked onstage arm-in-arm.

For the debut of their 41-show tour, the siblings performed their greatest hits including “Wonderwall,” “Some Might Say” and “Half The World Away.”

In a fan video, Liam could be heard joking about the high ticket prices for the opening night show. “You alright, yeah, [are] we having a good time, yeah?” he said to the audience, before joking, “Was it worth the £40,000 you paid for the ticket?”

Liam and Noel had a turbulent relationship since the band’s beginning in 1991, but things really came to a head when they got into a backstage fight in Aug. 2009.

“It is with some sadness and great relief … I quit Oasis tonight,” Noel announced after the Rock en Seine festival in August 2009. “People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

In the years that followed, the siblings publicly took jabs at each other as they pursued solo careers.

But in Aug. 2024, Oasis shocked fans by announcing that the band would reunite for a world tour.

“There has been no great revelatory moment that has ignited the reunion — just the gradual realization that the time is right,” the band said in a statement at the time. “Yet the timing must be a subconscious influence.”

Industry experts told The Post that the brothers will rake in at least $200 million from their “Live ’25 Tour,” thanks to their lucrative deal with Live Nation and a multi-million-dollar Adidas contract.

Additionally, sources told The Post that the siblings have been in talks with Netflix as they’re making a documentary to tie in with the tour.
