A JEA spokesperson crews will be working Bay Street near the Maxwell House Coffee plant throughout the week to replace a damaged sewage line.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Part of Bay Street in Downtown Jacksonville will be reduced to all but one eastbound lane this week as JEA crews work to repair a section of the road that caved in, according to a JEA spokesperson.
JEA spokesperson Karen McAllister said crews were alerted to the cave-in over a main sewage line on Bay Street late Sunday night, and have been working throughout the night to assess the damage and begin repairs to the road.
McAllister said crews are working to learn what caused the cave in.
All westbound lanes of Bay Street by the Maxwell House Coffee plant are shut down, and only one eastbound lane is open.
McAllister said crews will be on site throughout the week, adding that the sewer main, 12-14 feet underground, will need to be replaced.
