Former Jets quarterback Sam Darnold will be getting his first ring in the near future.
A wedding ring that is.
Darnold, 28, proposed to longtime girlfriend Katie Hoofnagle and the couple is engaged to be married, the pair announced in a post on Instagram.
Hoofnagle excitedly posted a series of photos along with the caption “YES!!!!!”, showcasing moments from when the Seahawks QB proposed on one knee to her. The images were displayed in a carousel format, capturing the special occasion of the marriage proposal.
Other photos featured Hoofnagle showing off the ring on the beach and another showed the two embracing in a hug.
She continued to share glimpses of the festivities surrounding their engagement on Instagram Stories. These included snapshots of a joyous celebration with their loved ones, highlighting a party thrown in honor of their engagement on the same day.
“Realizing….” the caption on one post read, along with a photo of Hoofnagle looking surprised.
The next one revealed a house filled with their friends and family.
“Our house was filled with all the people we love,” the caption read on the slide.
A sign at the celebration indicated that the two got engaged on Saturday, two days before they announced their engagement on social media on Monday.
Having made their relationship public in 2023, Darnold and Hoofnagle have been open about their journey together. In an interview with Us Weekly, the quarterback praised his fiancée, acknowledging her as a source of stability and support through the highs and lows of navigating an NFL season.
Hoofnagle played club soccer at the University of South Carolina and she graduated in 2020.
Darnold, who played three seasons with the Jets after being drafted No. 3 overall in 2018, helped lead the Vikings to a 14-3 record and put up a career-high 4,319 passing yards and 35 touchdowns this past season.
He even earned his first Pro Bowl nod of his career.
Darnold signed a three-year, $100.5 million deal in March with the Seahawks, who are hoping he can bring some of that Minnesota magic can make its way with him to the Pacific Northwest.
