ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Just as we all start to settle into those summer vibes — cookouts, beach trips, and lazy afternoons — the reminders of back-to-school season are already popping up. And while most of us might not be ready to think about pencils and notebooks just yet, our local first responders are always a step ahead when it comes to caring for this community.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is once again hitting the road with its annual Cram the Cruiser program. This initiative invites residents to come out and help “cram” a marked patrol vehicle full of school supplies, everything from crayons and composition books to backpacks and glue sticks. The goal? To make sure every child in Orange County has what they need to start the school year ready to learn.

Deputies then deliver these donated supplies right back into the community, partnering with local schools and organizations that support families in need. It’s a simple but meaningful way for neighbors to help neighbors and a great example of law enforcement working hand-in-hand with the people they serve.

If you’re wondering how to take part, it’s easy to find out where the next “Cram the Cruiser” stop will be. Just follow the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on social media for their full schedule of collection events across the county.

Today, you can join them in person from 10 a.m. to noon at the Walmart in east Orange County located at 11250 E. Colonial Drive.

And if you can’t make it in person but want to see the effort in action, tune in for our live stream at 10 a.m. for a behind-the-scenes look at the event and to hear directly from the deputies helping lead the charge.

Let’s show our students that this community has their backs — one school supply at a time.
