More than 12,500 customers affected by power outages in Jacksonville area Wednesday

JEA said the outages were due to the weather, mostly lightning strikes.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — More than 12,500 customers were affected by JEA power outages Wednesday afternoon, according to their outage map. That’s 2.3% of JEA’s 540,200 customers. 

The outages were due to weather, many due to lightning strikes, according to JEA.

Around 5 p.m., there were 6,502 customers effected in the San Jose area, with troubleshooters en route to help. There were over 3,000 effected on the Eastside and into the Urban Core. Also heavily effected was the area surrounding Bowden Road, with around 200 outages, and the Arlinton/Alderman Park area which was seeing over 500. That outage stretched East all the way to some customers near Atlantic Beach.
