CBS’s upcoming “Blue Bloods” spinoff has recast Danny Reagan’s son after the same actor played the recurring role throughout the original 14 seasons.

Andrew Terraciano, who portrayed Sean Reagan in “Boston Blue,” will not be reprising his role for the upcoming season. Throughout the show’s 14 seasons, he had been a regular character, playing the role of Danny Reagan’s son, portrayed by Donnie Wahlberg.

Instead, Mika Amonsen will take over the role as the youngest Reagan son, who relocates with his father to Beantown to start a new chapter working as a patrolman for the Boston Police Department in the “Blue Bloods” offshoot.

The character is being recast to reflect a bold new direction in Boston Blue, as he confidently follows the Reagans into the world of law enforcement, according to Deadline, citing sources.

Wahlberg, 55, reprises his role as the hot-headed detective, teaming up with Sonequa Martin-Green, who plays Detective Lena Silver, the accomplished eldest daughter of a prestigious law enforcement family.

Amsonen’s Sean Reagan has “committed himself to pursuing his family’s legacy but wanted to do so on his own terms, which meant joining a department outside of his hometown. Danny’s decision to stay in Boston gives this father and son duo a chance to reconnect on a deeper level,” according to the character’s IMDb description.

Amonsen has previously appeared in Prime Video’s “Reacher,” ABC’s “Designated Survivor,” and had a role in Eli Roth’s 2023 horror film “Thanksgiving.”

In February, CBS announced “Boston Blue” and began filming seven months after the series finale of “Blue Bloods,” which ran from 2010 to 2024.

Tom Selleck, who played NYPD Commissioner Frank Reagan, had been vocal about his unhappiness that CBS ended the show.

“Boston Blue” is set to premiere in fall on the “Blue Bloods” Friday 10 p.m. time slot, according to Deadline.

Terraciano, 22, became a child star alongside his brother, Tony Terraciano, when the pair was cast as siblings in “Blue Bloods.”

Tony, 24, played the recurring role of Sean’s older brother, Jack Reagan, throughout the show’s run. However, around season 10, he started to appear less in the show, but did make a brief appearance in the series finale.

Terraciano’s run as Sean Reagan ended after the actor was featured in 292 of the 293 episodes of “Blue Bloods.”

In an emotional farewell post on Instagram, the 22-year-old actor thanked fans of the long-running CBS drama for watching.

“To all of you that watched, I hope you enjoyed the finale,” Terraciano wrote. “It was a fantastic ride, and I loved every moment of it, so I figured I’d share some of the memories from the best season ever!”
