A Georgia teenager, who grieved for her mother and stepfather on social media, was arrested and accused of fatally shooting the pair, authorities said Thursday.
Sarah Grace Patrick, 17, was charged with two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault in connection to the slayings of Kristin Brock, 41, and James Brock, 45, Carroll County Sheriff’s officials said in a statement.
The couple was found dead inside their home on Feb. 20 at 1531 Tyus Road near Carrollton, about 55 miles west of Atlanta. They were “deceased from apparent gunshot wounds,” the sheriff said.
“From the very moment the 911 call was received, a relentless investigation began, one that would span months, consume thousands of hours, and require the full weight of local and federal law enforcement partnerships,” according to the county.
“While the case has not remained in the public spotlight in recent months, this investigation has never gone silent.”
A little more than a week after the shooting deaths, a loving tribute was posted on TikTok.
“But at night time when there’s nothing to do and the house is empty, I’d always think about how much I needed them,” according to a TikTok account that a sheriff’s spokesperson confirmed is linked to the teen.
A judge denied bail for the teen, though it wasn’t immediately clear if she had hired or been assigned a criminal defense lawyer, a Carroll County spokesperson said on Thursday.
“We know the public has been eager for answers, and we want to be clear … so have we,” according to the county.
“But bringing forth the truth responsibly and thoroughly is our highest obligation. We are proud of the unwavering commitment shown by every member of this agency, and we stand behind the process that has led us to this arrest.”
