Six teenagers have been arrested after an alleged carjacking which ended in a collision with an unmarked police vehicle and the bollards of a fast food drive-through in Melbourne last night.

Police said three people allegedly attempted to steal a rideshare driver’s car at about 10.30pm near Neil Street in Sunshine.

The 28-year-old gig worker was allegedly stabbed, drove to a nearby police station for help and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

About 20 minutes later, it is alleged three young men armed with machetes approached a rideshare vehicle, assaulted the driver and stole his silver Toyota Camry on Kinnane Crescent in Sunshine.

“The 28-year-old rideshare driver was not physically injured,” Victoria Police said.

The car was found by police at a fast-food restaurant drive-through on St Albans Road in St Albans.

Police said when officers approached the car, the person behind the wheel allegedly attempted to drive away, collided with an unmarked police vehicle and bollards at the drive-through.

Detectives, with the assistance of police dogs, arrested six teenagers at the scene.

One of the young men allegedly resisted arrest and was bitten by a police dog.

A 16-year-old boy was charged with two counts of aggravated reckless exposure of police officer to risk by driving, damage emergency services vehicle, criminal damage, theft of motor vehicle, unlicensed driving and being disguised with unlawful intent.

A 15-year-old boy was charged with theft of motor vehicle and possessing prohibited weapon.

A 16-year-old boy and two 15-year-old boys were charged with theft of motor vehicle.

Another 16-year-old boy was cautioned in relation to theft of motor vehicle.
