AUGUSTA, Ga () – Good food for a cause Friday night. A local Little League has started hosting Food Truck Friday to raise money so they can continue hosting baseball games.

Masters City Little League on Phinizy Rd. was not able to have a spring season due to damage from Hurricane Helene but organizers are hoping to raise enough money to keep the complex open.

Dozens of food trucks and vendors filled the parking lot with tons of different options for people to choose from.

“A lot of places were doing them, and we figured this was a great place. We have a lot of property out here to be able to have the food trucks come out. This was our fifth one, this has been a good one, I’ve had them out here where we’ve had very few people show up, but we continue to push forward,” said Patricia Clem, President of Masters City Little League.

You can also donate blood at the event. If you donate, the complex receives $10 for every blood donation, and you can get a $60 gift card.

Clem says, “Who can say anything negative about donating blood, it saves lives.”  

I spoke with two vendors who run a family-owned business. Austin Bridges, Owner of Rolling with the Food and Stacey Toole, Rolling with the Treats.

“This is great, we’re glad to be here, we look forward to meeting new faces and having a good night. Selling a few snow cones and smash burgers!” said Bridges and Toole.

Clem told me the importance of little league goes beyond the playing field.

“Keep kids coming out to play baseball. Kids need a safe place to be able to come and play. They need coaches that are coming out here to help teach kids. Our bottom line is to see these fields filled with kids playing baseball, hearing the crack of the baseball and the parents screaming for kids to run is just so wonderful,” Clem said.
