Samuel Penalba, 34, is also accused of trying to delete photo and video proof of the incident.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville dance instructor has been arrested for having illegal sexual activity with a victim age 16 or 17, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
JSO says their Special Assault Unit has been investigating Samuel Penalba, 34, since July 1, following a complaint. Detectives found that he had “engaged in sexual activity with the victim on multiple occasions in his vehicle,” according to a release.
JSO found explicit photos and videos that coincided with statements the victim gave them, the release said.
Penalba has also been charged with felony tampering charges, as he is accused of deleting evidence from his cell phone.
JSO says this is the first investigation involving Penalba. He has resigned from his position at the dance studio.
JSO does not plan to release further details to protect the victim’s identity. “JSO will not tolerate anyone preying on children in our community,” the release says.
