TAMPA, Fla., (WFLA) – A group of girls in Tampa spent their Saturday morning raising money to send to victims in Texas.

Emily Mifsud, Ellie Turner, Everly Turner, and Anna Mifsud all have the victims in Texas in their hearts and said they wanted to do what they could to help, especially those from Camp Mystic.

“So, we’re raising money for the people in Texas, from Camp Mystic, who lost their kids in the flash flood. So, we’re trying to raise as much money as we can to help them,” said Emily Mifsud.

The lemonade stand had a good turnout, with customer after customer showing up to help.

“Everybody feels a lot of sympathy for these people in Texas, so they’re obviously like, ‘of course I’ll help.’ Some people just make donations, they don’t even buy lemonade,” Everly Turner said.

“The girls really want to support the American Red Cross and Kerr County relief fund, where Camp Mystic is, so they can help send the money and hopefully have an impact on the Camp and those particular victims,” said Christine Turner, one of the mothers overseeing the stand.

The girls said they were already planning on doing a lemonade stand, but once they saw the devastating news out of Texas, they changed where all the donations were going.

“We know that the money we make is not going to make a huge impact, but we’re grateful we can make the little impact that we can,” Everly said.

“It feels good to know that we can help their families,” said Ellie.

The entire neighborhood came together to help make the lemonade stand happen.

“It really, of course, makes me so very proud and there was unanimous approval and enthusiasm from all the girls in the neighborhood to see what they could do to join the lemonade stand, bring cookies, and do whatever they could to help other people, especially families with little girls who have been tragic victims,” Christine said.

Each cup they sold helped to make a difference, even from states away.

Christine Turner said they plan to send all the money donated Saturday evening.
