Elmo’s X account has existed since November 2012 and the iconic puppet has more than 640,000 followers on the platform.

There was a flurry of antisemitic rants and one post criticized Donald Trump, tagging the president’s X account.

A Sesame Workshop spokesperson confirmed that the account had fallen victim to a hack attack.

It slammed the type of content that was shared, branding it “disgusting.”

“We are working to restore full control of the account,” the spokesperson told The Daily Beast.

The posts have been deleted, but some X users took screenshots of the tirades and shared images underneath the most-recent post uploaded to Elmo’s account.

A picture of Elmo and his furry pal Tango was shared on July 12.

“Elmo is so lucky to have a furry friend like you!” it said.

X users have wasted no time in quizzing the account about the tirades that were shared.

“Are we just gonna act like nothing happened Elmo?” one posted.

Scores of social media users are talking about how Elmo’s account was hacked.

Elmo’s account fell victim to the hack – just months after an open to work post appeared on a LinkedIn account purporting to be the character.

The social media post surfaced after Trump signed an executive order targeting outlets such as PBS.

Sesame Street has been aired on PBS since 1969.

“Elmo worked at Sesame Street for 45 years,” the post said.

“Elmo is sad. Elmo loved his time at Sesame Street.”

In the post, the puppet paid tribute to his pals Cookie Monster and Big Bird.

It then said the character was open to his next career move.

“Elmo is good at so many things,” it said.

“Like hugs. Elmo loves giving hugs.”

A screenshot of the LinkedIn post went viral, but a Sesame Workshop spokesperson told Variety it was fake.

Elmo first appeared on Sesame Street in 1980 where he appeared as a background character.

He has been a permanent fixture on the children’s show since 1985.
