Boxer Shakur Stevenson walked away with a victory on Saturday night, but according to his daughter, that win was up for debate.
On Saturday, July 12, the undefeated WBC lightweight champion stepped into the ring at Louis Armstrong Stadium in New York, facing off against William Zepeda during the Ring III event.
Stevenson leaned into his signature style — sharp timing and precise footwork — to control the pace across 12 competitive rounds. However, Zepeda landed a clean right hand in the third round that visibly stunned Stevenson for a moment.
But the Newark native quickly regained his composure and went on to dominate the remainder of the fight, earning a unanimous decision with scores of 118-110, 118-110, and 119-109.
While the judges were impressed, Stevenson’s daughter had a different take.
In a moment that quickly went viral, the undefeated champ (now 24-0, 11 KOs) was wrapping up his post-fight interview when his daughter Leilani decided to share her own ringside analysis.
“He almost knocked you out,” she said, keeping it brutally honest.
“No he did not, girl. Is you crazy?” Stevenson replied, still recovering from the jab — her verbal jab.
The hilarious exchange took over social media, with Stevenson tweeting, “I cannot stop laughing at my daughter dawg why she jump in my interview and embarrass me like that.”

Stevenson’s partner, rapper Lyric, also took to social media to celebrate the win, writing, “Beyond proud of you baby you really HIM!! @shakurstevenson” on Instagram after the fight.
Young Lyric, real name Michelle Ragston, gave birth to Leilani Asha Stevenson on December 6th, 2021. She first announced their pregnancy in October 2021 with a photoshoot shared online, and the two have embraced parenthood ever since.
