Chanel’s Fight: The dog we refuse to give up on

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (BLOOM) – Chanel is fighting for her life again. After surviving a horrific training ordeal that left her underweight and injured, she was slowly recovering—until seizures returned with a vengeance. Her owners have spent over $10,000 trying to save her. Now they need help.

This is our girl Chanel. She’s sweet, silly, clumsy, and she’s been through more in the last six months than most dogs do in a lifetime.

In January, Chanel suffered a neurological collapse that nearly killed her. We were told she might not make it. But she did. She fought hard. She slowly learned to walk again. Her personality started to come back, even if her coordination never fully did.

We thought the worst was over. But July 13, she started seizing.

Every dollar helps give Chanel a chance. If you’ve ever loved a pet like family, you know how hard this is. Even $5 makes a difference. Please consider a donation. We’re trying to raise $2,000 to cover her next round of neurologist visits, medication, and emergency care. Every bit helps.

At first it was mild. Then it got scary. Her jaw locked. Her legs flailed. Her body tensed up. We got meds, rushed her to the vet, and stabilized her. She’s now on medication every 8 hours, because the moment it wears off—almost to the minute—she risks another seizure.

Right now, we don’t know what’s causing this. It could be epilepsy. It could be deeper brain damage from her original collapse. We’re doing what we can with the vets we trust, but it’s exhausting—mentally, emotionally, and financially.

We’ve spent over $10,000 on Chanel’s care so far. That includes emergency vet visits, diagnostic tests, meds, rehab, and a $3,000 board-and-train that ended in trauma, injury, and no results. We never got a refund.

And still, we’ve never given up on her.

We know some people might say it’s time. But look in her eyes in these photos. Watch her gently lean into you for cuddles. See her wrapped up in her little blankets, still trying her best. She wants to live. And as long as she’s fighting, we’ll keep fighting too.
