OCALA, Fla. – An employee at an Ocala daycare facility was arrested amid accusations she was abusing infants over a five month period, according to a news release.

Ocala police said they responded to the All Star Learning Academy located at 2441 W. Silver Springs Blvd. regarding allegations of child abuse involving the employee, identified as 33-year-old Karla L. Penalverty-Gonzalez.

According to the release, an investigation uncovered multiple incidents from March through July 2025, involving the mistreatment of six infants at the facility.

Their ages were between 4 months to 9 months old, police said

“Several instances of physical harm to the children were alleged, including rough handling, forced feeding, violent shaking, and near suffocation. A video recording provided by an employee depicted one such incident with an infant, corroborating the claims,” Ocala police said in the release.

According to investigators, the incidents were reported to supervisors, but appropriate measures were not taken to address the allegations in a “timely manner.”

Police said Penalverty-Gonzalez, who started working at the business in July 2024, was arrested following their investigation.

She faces multiple charges of child abuse without great bodily harm and resisting arrest without violence, according to an arrest affidavit.

The Department of Children and Families has been informed and will require remedial training for the daycare’s staff, officials said.

Ocala police said their investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with additional information or who may have witnessed related incidents is strongly encouraged to contact Detective Pfeifer at 352-369-7000.
