Aliyah Williams, 16, died after she was stabbed multiple times during an argument, police said.

Her alleged killer, 17, was arrested on Tuesday night in New York City.

Williams threw water on her attacker during their argument inside the deli, police said.

That’s when the killer pulled out a knife and stabbed her outside the Deli Grocery at around 4 pm.

She died from stab wounds to her face, chest, and body.

The teen was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where she later died from her injuries.

It’s unclear what the inciting argument was about.

The gruesome attack left a trail of blood outside the deli in the Bronx before workers cleaned up the area with bleach, according to ABC affiliate WABC.

Her family said they don’t know who would have hurt the high school student.

They claim she was lured to the deli, which is a short walk away from her house.

Her heartbroken grandmother, Rose Anderson, said she had spoken with Williams earlier that day.

“She texted me today, she asked me for $10 for food,” Anderson told the New York Daily News.

“That was the last time I heard from her. I hope her soul rests in peace.”

She added, “She wasn’t a bad kid, she was a peaceful person, she gave of her heart.”

“May her soul rest in peace, I’m sorry she had to go this way.”

Statement from NYC Council Member

Our community is mourning the tragic loss of 16-year-old Aliyah Williams, who was fatally stabbed on Boston Road — just steps from her home.

This act of violence — sparked by a senseless dispute — should never have happened. Our office has made contact with the local precinct, and we understand that the investigation is ongoing. We urge anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS to help bring accountability and healing.

To our youth: one decision, made in anger or pain, can change lives forever. Please know — there is always another way. Your life matters.

To our family, faith leaders, and educators: now is the time to deepen our commitment to prevention, healing, and safe spaces. Together, we must address the root causes of violence and invest in the well-being of our young people.

I’m grateful to our local partners — including Astor Services, BRAG North, and Bronx SUV — for providing support and intervention in this time of need.

If you or someone you know needs help navigating resources or support services, please reach out to our office. We are here.

We cannot allow acts of violence in our community to go unanswered. Each tragedy must move us to action — because every young person in our borough deserves a future rooted in safety, promise, and peace.

I extend my deepest condolences to her family, and we hold them in our hearts during this unimaginable time.
