SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Chatham Savannah Authority for the Homeless says that their new location will help people experiencing homelessness get the resources they need in order to change their circumstances.

“The goal is to get people who are roofless in our community under a roof,” said Executive Director Jennifer Dulong.

They offer a multitude of services to help people find and keep a roof over their head, which is the goal of the Chatham Savannah Authority for the Homeless. They have a new location inside the Goodwill Employment Center on Sally Mood Road, but their services haven’t changed.

“The feedback from our ruthless neighbors over the last few years has been a difficulty getting to services, especially from the south side, two or 495, and that was also some of the feedback we got from our outreach team members when they are canvassing the entire Chatham County community. And so, this co-location is giving us an opportunity to do a different service delivery model and be more efficient connecting people to critical services every single day,” said Dulong.

The services include transportation, employment opportunities, medical and mental health treatment and even printing out important documents. Now, a new service will be the operation of cottages.

“We are also going to be the operators of the cottages at Dundee or Dundee cottages, which is the new 40-unit housing beside the veterans’ tiny house community. It’s also tiny house iterations. They’re different layouts. They’re bigger and they’re for families, children, and individuals exiting their homeless experience here in Savannah,” she explained.

Now they have three different locations that they are operating out of. Two of those just became fully operational as of Monday of this week. The third should be up and running by September, they hope.

Even if you can’t get to a location, they have teams out on the streets every day looking for people to provide their resources to.
