CHICAGO (WGN) — Legendary pop singer Connie Francis, known for the hit song “Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool” and the viral “Pretty Little Baby,” has died at 87.

The news about the singer’s death came in a Facebook post shared by her copyright manager, Ron Roberts, early Thursday morning. The post was later shared on the official Connie Francis artist page on Facebook.

“It is with a heavy heart and extreme sadness that i inform you of the passing of my dear friend Connie Francis last night. I know that Connie would approve that her fans are among the first to learn of this sad news,” Roberts said in the post.

Francis, who was born in Newark, New Jersey, in 1937, rose to fame as a singer in the 1950s and early 1960s and went on to sell millions of records worldwide throughout her decades-long career.

Most recently, Francis saw a resurgence in fame when her 1962 song “Pretty Little Baby” went viral on TikTok. She later joined the social media platform, thanking a handful of celebrities for sharing her tune.

While the cause of death remains unclear, the chart-topping singer’s death comes after weeks of posts shared on Facebook regarding “extreme pain” the singer began experiencing in early July.

In a post shared on July 2, Francis noted that she was in the hospital, forcing her to cancel an appearance. Later that day, she noted that she had been moved to a private room at the hospital following a series of tests and examinations in intensive care.

The singer’s final post came on the Fourth of July when she shared an update stating that she was feeling “much better.”
