SAVANNAH, Ga. () — A Riceboro native helped lead Team USA to a Women’s FIBA AmeriCup championship earlier this month.

Delisha Milton-Jones was an assistant coach on Team USA’s Women’s AmeriCup team that won the championship against Brazil 92-84 in early July.

Milton-Jones graduated from Bradwell Institute in 1993, before becoming a star with the Florida Gators for four years and playing several seasons in the WNBA.

She was hired to be the Head Coach of Old Dominion Women’s Basketball in 2020. In 2025, she was selected as an assistant coach for Team USA in the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup.

Milton-Jones is also a two-time Olympic medal gold winner, earning them one in 2000 and another in 2008.

She said she hopes her experience coaching AmeriCup team will help earn her a selection to coach the Olympics.

“I’m sure it will establish me in the team USA Basketball ranks in some capacity,” said Milton-Jones. “The Olympics in 2028 would be phenomenal and I have my fingers crossed in hopes of being chosen.”
