'SportsCenter' anchors reenact viral Coldplay kiss cam video

The ESPYs are over, but give these “SportsCenter” anchors an award for Cold Open of the Day.

On Friday morning, as the camera zoomed in on Gary Striewski and Randy Scott, Scott was seen with his arms wrapped around Striewski’s waist. They swayed together briefly before Striewski hid his face and turned away while Scott lowered himself toward the ground.

“Uh, it’s time to ‘Kiss It Goodbye’,” Scott said, transitioning to the show’s segment focused on home runs. “Baseball’s probably not the only thing you could say that about recently.”

This amusing moment mirrored the recent viral jumbo screen clip featuring Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and his HR head Kristin Cabot, who were caught in an intimate hug at a Coldplay concert on Wednesday night at Gillette Stadium.

“Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy,” Coldplay front man Chris Martin said after the awkward moment — and he couldn’t have been more right.

Byron and Cabot were soon found out, exposing an alleged affair as Byron is married to a different woman.

The moment took over the internet on Thursday and quickly became one of the memes of the year.

Other sports figures also hopped in on the viral moment.

The Mariners joined in on the fun in an X post of star Cal Raleigh with the words, “Need the Big Dumper to do some dumpin?” written on it. “If your significant other was recently spotted at a Coldplay concert, email BigDumper@Mariners.com.”

The Mets’ Double-A minor league affiliate, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, wrote, “The happy couple is welcome in Rumbletown. We promise we won’t put you on the videoboard.”
