AUGUSTA, Ga. () – With temperatures reaching triple digits over the next few days, heating and air companies like Bailey’s Comfort Services are prepared to answer the call.
“The main thing is to be flexible, we’re going to adjust our schedule to free up our technicians so that they can get to those no cool calls, the people who are completely without air conditioning we’ll definitely prioritize those,” said Hank Gautreaux, Project Manager at Bailey’s Comfort Services.
With high temperatures and high humidity, the harder A/C units are having to work causing more potential for failure.
Gautreaux says for this time of year to have your fans set to counterclockwise.
“When that first cool front comes through in the fall that’s when you can reverse that fan. At that point now we’re moving air up and pushing it around, so you don’t get that cold draft on you through the winter season, and then again once it starts warming back up in the spring you go right back to counterclockwise,” Gautreaux said.
He adds, if possible, to not be going in and out of your house or opening windows too frequently letting the hot air in.
Another tip is to not run your thermostat up and down, Gautreaux says to find a comfortable temperature and leave it where it is at.
“It’s not something you can do last minute, but you definitely want to have your maintenances done on your system. Have the tune ups done, it’s just like changing the oil in your car, you want to keep that system operating at peak performance and efficiency,” said Gautreaux.
Gautreaux says if it has been more than 30 days since you have last checked your filters to change them out especially if you have pets, so they don’t get clogged.
If you notice any changes to your air conditioning, be sure to call a heating and air company near you.
