Nigerian singer and songwriter, Waje Iruobe, has called on citizens to lend their support to individuals who continue to advocate for the welfare and rights of the common people.

Taking to her Instagram Story on Thursday, the soulful vocalist expressed concern over the lack of widespread backing for those who speak out against social and economic injustices in the country. She emphasized that many brave voices are fighting for equity, justice, and improved living conditions, yet they often face resistance or indifference from the same people they are trying to protect.

Waje noted that Nigeria needs unity now more than ever, especially in light of the increasing hardship and social challenges faced by everyday citizens. She stressed that advocates and activists should not be left to fight alone, urging Nigerians to recognize and support their efforts rather than criticize or ignore them.

Her message comes at a time when conversations about governance, poverty, insecurity, and economic hardship dominate public discourse. Waje’s post serves as a reminder that meaningful change can only occur when people stand together in solidarity, especially in support of those using their voices to defend the voiceless..

“Stop stifling the voice of well meaning Nigerians that are concerned about the well being of the common man. If you do what you are supposed to do, nobody will call you out. Selah,” she wrote.
