Footage from a concert in Boston on Wednesday night showed Andy Byron and Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot caught on the venue’s “kiss cam.” In the clip, Byron can be seen standing behind Cabot with his arms around her waist. When the pair realized they were on camera, they abruptly pulled apart — Cabot hid her face in her hands while Byron ducked down, trying to avoid the spotlight.

During a recent Coldplay concert, frontman Chris Martin drew laughs from the crowd when he spotted a couple on the venue’s Kiss Cam and said, “Are they having an affair or just very shy?” Social media users were quick to claim the pair were Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot. The moment, captured by concertgoers and posted to TikTok (@calebu2/TMX), quickly spread online, fueling rumors and memes about an alleged workplace relationship.

The Board of Directors has launched a formal investigation and promised more information soon. The company also clarified that no other employees were involved, addressing speculation that the woman seen near Byron and Cabot was Senior Director of People Alyssa Stoddard. “Alyssa Stoddard was not present at the concert,” the Astronomer confirmed.

Despite the speculation, the company declined to comment further when reached by Fox News Digital, referring back to its official statement.

Adding to the confusion, an apology statement allegedly issued by Byron surfaced online within hours of the video going viral. An astronomer later confirmed that the statement was fake. The fabricated post read in part: “I want to acknowledge the moment that’s been circulating online, and the disappointment it’s caused.”

The company has not indicated when additional details will be released, but emphasized that its leadership remains under review as the investigation proceeds.

The hoax statement, written in Byron’s name, read: “What was supposed to be a night of music and joy turned into a deeply personal mistake playing out on a very public stage. I want to sincerely apologize to my wife, my family, and the team at Astronomer. You deserve better from me as a partner, as a father, and as a leader.”

The fabricated statement went on: “This is not who I want to be or how I want to represent the company I helped build. I’m taking time to reflect, to take accountability, and to figure out the next steps, personally and professionally. I ask for privacy as I navigate that process.”

It concluded with a reference to Coldplay’s hit song Fix You: “Lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones, and I will try to fix you.”

The astronomer quickly dismissed the statement as fake, confirming that Byron had not made any public comments about the incident.

Adding to the misinformation, a parody Coldplay account also went viral, claiming the band would be introducing new audience rules because of the moment involving the two alleged Astronomer executives. “Starting with our next show, we’re introducing camera-free audience sections for people and their sidepieces,” the fake post read.

Representatives for Byron, Cabot, and Coldplay did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

“Whoa, look at these two,” Martin said as the camera focused on a man and woman standing closely together. But the mood shifted when the woman quickly turned away to dodge the camera’s spotlight, and the man also slipped out of frame moments later.

“Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy,” Martin quipped, drawing laughter and cheers from the crowd.

Social media sleuths quickly claimed the couple caught on the Kiss Cam were Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and the company’s Chief People Officer, Kristin Cabot.

Fox News has since confirmed that Cabot and her husband filed for divorce in 2018, and court documents show the divorce was finalized in 2022. No divorce records have surfaced for Byron, who appears to still be married.

Byron has led Astronomer, a data orchestration and cybersecurity startup, since 2023. Cabot joined the company as Chief People Officer about nine months ago, according to her LinkedIn profile.
