Similar to other One Chicago shows, there is no doubt that Chicago Fire has an extremely dedicated fan following. That makes perfect sense since Chicago Fire has featured several storylines that the show’s viewers have cared deeply about. On top of that, the TV show is so popular with many viewers that there are just as many people who are interested in the actors who make Chicago Fire work. Of course, one of those actors that fans have grown to care about is Jake Lockett.
While some of those Chicago Fire fans who care about Jake may not realize it, he has had a true mind-blowing 2025 so far. Between leaving Chicago Fire and walking down the aisle, it is hard to overstate how big of a deal Jake’s year has been for him.
Jake Lockett Left Chicago Fire In 2025
In May 2025, NBC renewed the three remaining One Chicago shows, Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med. While that was great news for fans of the franchise, of which there are many, it wasn’t all good news.
As Deadline reported at the time, NBC is cutting back on the budgets for Chicago P.D., Chicago Med, and Chicago Fire. While it could be argued that the budget cuts could have some positive effects on the shows, the situation was a problem for several actors.
After the budget cuts were announced, fans of the franchise learned that several of the franchise’s stars were leaving. Unfortunately for him, it turns out that Jake Lockett left Chicago Fire following the show’s 13th season, which finished airing in 2025.
Considering the situation, Jake leaving Chicago Fire was both surprising and made perfect sense.

Jake’s departure was surprising given that he’d just earned a major promotion. Even though Jake is credited with appearing in every Season 11 episode of Chicago Fire and roughly half of Season 12, he only had a recurring role during those seasons.
However, for Chicago Fire Season 13, Jake was given a huge promotion when he joined the show’s main cast. Someone losing their job after just getting a major promotion is always surprising to see.
Unfortunately for fans of the franchise, Jake Lockett wasn’t the only actor to leave Chicago Fire after the show’s 13th season. An April 2025 People article reported that Daniel Kyri was also leaving Chicago Fire after starring in the show for many years.
On the other hand, there was some logic to Jake exiting Chicago Fire. After all, since Jake was only promoted to Chicago Fire’s main cast for Season 13, it makes some sense for one of the show’s newest stars to leave if someone has to.
On April 28th, 2025, Jake responded to leaving Chicago Fire in an Instagram post.
As part of Jake Lockett’s Chicago Fire tenure, the actor got the opportunity to appear on another major NBC series. As part of one of the One Chicago crossover events that are a huge part of the franchise, Jake appeared during an episode of Chicago Med.
At the beginning of his post, Jake wrote about his life was changing and how sad he was to leave Chicago Fire.
“While I don’t exactly know what the future looks like, I do know that it won’t be exactly what it was and I am going to miss the hell out of that. So much pride in this journey.”
From there, Jake addressed how he felt about his Chicago Fire role.
In his post, Jake wrote about what his Chicago Fire role meant to him.
“It’s been an honor bringing Sam to life and to every one of you, thank you for the love and support over the past three years.”
Finally, Jake expressed how much he enjoyed working with his Chicago Fire co-stars.
“And most importantly, the people that I was on the ground with day and night… thank you for the family you are and times you have been and will be there for me. If you’re not in one of these clips, there will be more to follow. So many cherished memories.”
Jake Lockett Got Married To Dominique Domingo In 2025
In July 2025, People published an article about Jake Lockett getting married to Dominique Domingo. That article revealed some fascinating details about the former Chicago Fire star’s outdoor wedding.
People’s article revealed that because Jake’s wife is nicknamed “Mother Earth,” the couple got married outdoors. Furthermore, Dominique talked to People about where they got married and what they wanted the experience to feel like.
“The theme was about letting nature take the lead. There was no need for added décor because Mother Nature handled it all. We wanted the vibe to be serene, intimate and peaceful and that’s exactly what it was.”
The article also revealed that the wedding was extremely intimate, as the couple’s only guests were their parents and a videographer.
Considering the couple only invited their parents, the fascinating thing is their families hadn’t met until the week of their wedding. Instead, the couple spent a few days taking quality time with their parents before their wedding. While speaking to People for the article, Jake explained why their families getting to know each in the days before the wedding was important to the couple.
“Our families had never met, so making sure we had time to commune together was important to us. Cooking meals together, sitting and watching our favorite funny movies together, hanging in the water and learning about each other, all those things helped to make the family aspect that much more special.”
Jake also spoke to People about how much he cherishes his relationship with his wife. “With Dominique, I’ve always felt like I am supported in being the best man I can be and that is a feeling I have always wanted in a partner. She is my dream, all the parts that I knew I wanted and some that I had no idea but am so grateful to have in a partner.”
