NBC meteorologist and Today show cohost Dylan Dreyer is going through a major life change. On Friday, July 18, shortly after wrapping the third hour of Today, Dreyer revealed in a personal Instagram post that she and husband Brian Fichera have quietly separated.

“For many years, I have shared my family with you — the highs and lows, the ups and downs, and all of the blessings and beautiful memories in between,” Dreyer wrote over a photo of a peaceful sunset. “For that reason, I want to share with you that a few months ago, Brian and I made the decision to separate.”

The longtime TV personality added, “We began as friends, and we will remain the closest of friends. Most importantly, we will continue to co-parent our three wonderful boys together with nothing but love and respect.”

Dreyer, 43, and Fichera, 38, married in 2012 and share three sons — Calvin, Oliver, and Rusty. The couple met while working at Boston’s WHDH, where Dreyer was a meteorologist before joining NBC News later that year.

Though Fichera has been mostly absent from Dreyer’s Instagram in 2024, she did post a sweet family selfie on Father’s Day with the caption, “Happy Father’s Day Bri!!” on June 15.

In happier times, the couple even shared their “marriage secret” in a January 2023 Today.com feature. “Golf is the thing we do together. We have a couple of drinks, we laugh. We remember why we fell in love,” Dreyer said at the time. “Then we go home and it’s right back to family.”

The announcement comes during a somber season for the Today family. In May, Dreyer’s cohost Sheinelle Jones suffered the devastating loss of her husband, Uche Ojeh, to glioblastoma at age 45.

Dreyer publicly paid tribute to Jones and her late husband in a heartfelt Instagram post that same day. “To my dear friend @sheinelle_o… I wish I had the words to help you feel better,” she wrote. “I’m blessed to have known Uche and this picture sums up the love and support and joy you shared with each other. May your heart be comforted by your memories.”
