Woman arrested for carjacking, aggravated assault in Richmond County

AUGUSTA, Ga. () – A woman was arrested in Richmond County on Thursday for an alleged carjacking that resulted in a victim being dragged, sustaining several broken bones.

According to an arrest warrant from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, 30-year-old Stephanie Castleberry was arrested and charged with felony Carjacking/Strongarm and Aggravated Assault for an incident that took place on Aug. 1, 2024.

The warrant states the situation occurred at 3646 Wheeler Road in Augusta. Castleberry allegedly took the victim’s 2020 GMC Sierra pickup truck as he exited his vehicle in an attempt to assist in a vehicle accident.

Castleberry is accused of dragging the victim in her attempt “to drive away in the victim’s vehicle causing the victim to sustain a broken pelvis and two broken ribs.”

The victim was transported to Doctors Hospital in Augusta to be treated for his injuries.
