Man arrested on several counts of sexual exploitation

JASPER COUNTY, S.C. () — The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) Special Victims Unit arrested a man wanted on several counts of sexual exploitation Friday.

Luis Manuel Chavez, 48, was wanted on five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in the second degree after the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office received a tip that informed officials of possible online child exploitation.

During the search, officials recovered cocaine and fraudulent documents from his residence on Sweet William Road in Ridgeland, including fake permanent resident cards, Social Security cards and passports.

Chavez is now pending charges related to the fraudulent items and has been transported to a detention center.

The Criminal Investigation Division, the Narcotics Enforcement Unit and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division also assisted in the investigation.
