The Coldplay concert seen ’round the world made its way to The View this morning.
Over the weekend, Astronomer CEO Andy Byron was caught getting cozy with the company’s head of human resources Kristin Cabot after their faces were blasted over Coldplay’s Kiss Cam. When they quickly separated from each other to hide from the camera, singer Chris Martin questioned whether they were having an affair. The answer? They sure were! Byron swiftly submitted his resignation from the company following the viral scandal, which was the first Hot Topic on this morning’s episode of The View.
Ana Navarro admitted to watching the awkward moment on repeat, while Sara Haines pointed out the larger issue at hand.
“The CEO of a company should never be dating the head of HR,” she said. “Beyond the affair, these are the people that are supposed to implement company policy. There’s a power dynamic. There’s a question of ethics.”
Whoopi Goldberg, however, showed a bit more grace for the former CEO and his mistress.
“Sometimes you can’t help who you want to get on. Sometimes you just can’t help it. Because she’s not the head of HR in the bed,” she joked, while Navarro playfully added, “She’s the head of something in bed.”
Goldberg also speculated that the couple might’ve wanted to out their affair.
“I don’t know what this is. I don’t know if he was happily married, if she was happily married. I don’t know any of that,” she said. “But I do know that if you don’t want people to know what you’re doing, don’t take them to concerts.”
“You don’t know who’s in this giant stadium of people. If you’re doing that and you don’t want people to know, what the hell? It’s just too dumb,” she continued. “You got inadvertently what you might’ve been looking for, which was your out.”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
