Australia is in for a wet one this week, with successive cold fronts due to bring rain to every state and territory in the country.

Damaging winds, storms, and even snow are also expected in multiple states.

Weatherzone reported the first cold front of the week passed over Western Australia on Monday morning, bringing cool, wet, and windy weather.

The front moved across to South Australia yesterday, and is expected to hit Australia’s south-east today.

“Blustery winds, rain and cold air will spread across the southern half of Australia between Monday and Wednesday with the passage of this cold front and an associated low pressure system,” Weatherzone reported.

“This will include damaging winds in several states, with severe weather warnings already in place for parts of (South Australia) and (Victoria) as of 10.30am AEST on Monday.”

The Bureau of Meteorology currently has severe weather warnings in place for parts of New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania.

The cold front is expected to bring rain and thunderstorms around NSW and Queensland today and tomorrow as it collides with a low pressure trough in Australia’s east, Weatherzone said.

A second cold front will hit Australia’s south-west tomorrow before moving across the country to hit the east by the weekend.

Swifties turn concert into actual earthquake

“This front is expected to spawn a large low pressure system that will draw tropical moisture across Australia,” Weatherzone said.

“This setup has the potential to generate a massive north-west cloud band that will soak part of every state and territory in the second half of this week.”

Additionally, potentially damaging winds are expected in parts of southern Australia, along with snow in the alpine regions and even southern Western Australia.

“The combined influence of this week’s cold fronts and low pressure systems will deliver a decent amount of rain to part of every state and territory in Australia between now and the weekend,” Weatherzone said.

“Due to the eastward movement of these weather systems, the bulk of this rain will fall on and west of the Great Dividing Range.”
